Lincoln City, Oregon
As Mayor of Lincoln City, Lori Hollingsworth
worked successfully for the
for passage of an equal rights
ordinance in Lincoln City.
She believes that equal rights
should be the law statewide.
"Prejudice hurts all of us,"
she says. She believes that
equality reflects the true community
values of Lincoln City and
all of Oregon.
Mayor Hollingsworth is committed
to working with leaders in
the LGBTQ community to achieve
the goal of equal rights throughout
the state.
Hollingsworth believes it is important
to move beyond simple tolerance
of others to being able to embrace and understand differences. She
says that diversity is important because different types of people
bring different perspectives, ideas and solutions to the problems of
a community. In addition, diversity keeps an organization flexible
and ensures its survival. Hollingsworth believes that the current discussion
about protecting LGBTQ people from discrimination and providing equal
civil marriage rights is important to the long-term economic health
of Oregon.
