April 4: A March to Honor the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Event: A march to honor Dr. King’s legacy of peace and nonviolence
Time: 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 4 the 40th anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination
Where: Gather at the statue of Dr. King on the northeast side of the Oregon Convention Center in Portland (Click here for map)
Route: Cross the Steel Bridge; gather at noon at the Japanese American Historical Plaza at Tom McCall Waterfront Park (NW Naito and Couch)
Speakers: The Rev. Alcena Boozer, rector, St. Philip the Deacon; the Rev. Will Hardy, senior pastor, Highland Christian Center; the Rt. Rev. David Brauer-Rieke, bishop, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Choir from De La Salle North High School will perform.
