California Attorney General Jerry Brown has changed the ballot language for Proposition 8, the measure that would overturn marriage equality in that state.
The ballot language now reads that passage of the measure would “eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry.” During the signature gathering phase, the description of the measure promised to “protect marriage” between a man and a woman.
Opponents of marriage equality have threatened to sue the State over the language change.
