McCain: Guilty by association

MSNBC’s Keith Obermann brings to light the associations McCain has had and maintains to this day. One of the arguments coming out of the McCain camp takes hacks at the character of Obama because of his connections to Rev. Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers. A closer look at the basis of these arguments, and an awareness of McCain’s own affiliations, bring an awareness to the fact that the Republican campaign is truly grasping at straws.

In his report, Obermann outlines the background of a few of McCain’s associates. They range from being a veteran board member of the Pioneer Fund, which funds research to prove white superiority, a registered foreign agent with the aparthteid government in South Africa in the late 70s, and of course, Marilyn Shannon of OCA (Oregon Citizen’s Alliance) fame. In 1993 McCain was invited to, and attended, a function hosted by the OCA, despite urging from fellow Republican Rep. Hatfield not to, and the Oregonian, which called the gesture “an invitation from hell”. This affiliation continues as Shannon was a delegate for McCain at this years Republican National Convention. What is there to say about McCains associations?

The clip does an excellent job of drawing clear lines and shooting massive holes in the Republican Party’s attempts at defacing Obama.
