United for Oregon March – Sunday, June 7 in Portland
Gay and transgender Oregonians depend on state and local governments to provide critical services that our community needs and deserves.
These agencies enforce our nondiscrimination law and investigate claims of bias in the workplace. They provide treatment and prevention for HIV and AIDS. They pay guidance counselors in our schools to help youth struggling to come to terms with their identity.
And all of this is on the chopping block as the state struggles with multi-billion dollar budget deficit.
Every cut in the budget puts another Oregon family at risk. Getting through this crisis is a responsibility that should be shared by people, businesses and the government. And it will require bold steps from state leaders to create jobs and preserve education, healthcare and human services.
That’s why Basic Rights Oregon invites you to join fellow Oregonians at the United for Oregon march this Sunday in Portland.
The March begins at the Eastbank Esplanade (near OMSI between SE Main and Taylor) and ends at Terry Schrunk Plaza for a rally at 2 pm. You are welcome to march or head straight to the rally.
