Looking To The Future & Never Forgetting How We Got Here
On May 9, 2007, Governor Kulongoski signed both bills into law, remarking that Oregon had become ”a state of inclusion, and no longer a state of exclusion.”
The laws are slated to go into effect on January 1, 2008. If anti-equality groups force a referendum, their implementation will be delayed, but let’s be clear: these laws exist because Oregonians agree that discrimination should be against the law.
We invite you now to take a look back on that day in May that sealed the deal, the day that will forever mark the moment that Oregon became a state of inclusion for Oregon’s GLBT community.
We urge you to make a contribution to help Basic Rights Oregon ensure that these laws take effect and Oregon will remain the state of equality. We cannot do it without your financial support.
