Kieran is a rural Midwestern transplant who is thrilled to now call Oregon home. As a teenager, Kieran leapt feet-first into the LGBTQ movement, working as an organizer for the campaign to legalize same-sex marriage in Maine. Kieran continued this work in their early twenties, organizing in Rhode Island, Maryland, and Oregon. In fall 2013, Kieran settled at Reed College in Portland. While at Reed, Kieran was a dedicated advocate for the needs of transgender and gender-nonconforming students. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in linguistics in 2017, Kieran began working with BRO to continue to advocate for transgender Oregonians. As a trans person from an isolated part of the country, Kieran is particularly passionate about building strong, powerful communities to support transgender people  living in rural areas. Kieran spends their spare time outside as much as possible, particularly gardening and hiking. When forced inside, they can most often be found listening to an audiobook while piecing together a quilt. (Pronouns: they/them)
