Through its synthesis of Antony and the Johnson’s songs and unfurling video portraiture of the 13 remarkable women who performed on stage\, TURNING creates an intimate and cinematic experience exploring themes of identity\, transcendence and the revelation of essence. “Turning represent freedom\, from society and from gender. I feel worthy\, being a woman\, an artist\, a transsexual. Being OK!” one performer puts it. This is a historic win in the fight to end the discrimination that transgender and gender non-conforming Oregonians face every day in accessing basic health care. And we are not stopping there!  That's why Basic Rights Oregon is hosting a one-day leadership conference to empower trans Oregonians and our allies in our work to end health insurance discrimination. We'll develop a shared strategy to win health care\, explore how health care discrimination plays out in our community\, and build the skills we need to make Oregon the first state to ban trans health care discrimination.
