This is my third year coordinating our annual Bites for Rights event.  And I have to say: Phew! What a day!  It included 8 stops in 13 hours, with so many social media posts from folks online, and shares on the Basic Rights Facebook page. Delicious equality and social media went through the roof!

Thank you to everyone who dined, drank, nibbled, and partook of the various spots all over Oregon. Thank you to all of the businesses and community orgs and individuals who participated – ones who are in year in, year out and those who are first time joiners. Thank you to everyone for your selfies, your hashtags, your shares, your likes. Thank you for supporting those who support our work at Basic Rights. Thank you for supporting us in all the ways that you do on #BFR2014 day, and on any random day.

This year we had the most participating businesses across Oregon – no small feat as Bites for Rights is the biggest dining out food event in Oregon each year.  And from all of the buzz that we’ve heard and witnessed online, this year’s event was such a great success for folks dining out and having fun with social media and photos.  We cannot thank you enough.

Please know that this list of #BFR2014 participating locations stays on the Basic Rights website all year. We recommend these places on #BFR day, and ALL year long. So if you didn’t get to try one on Bites for Rights day, add them to your rotation or travels across Oregon where you can. Also be sure to let them know when you visit, why you are patronizing their establishment. It’s not just about businesses supporting us on just one day of the year, but ongoing. It’s important for businesses all across Oregon to come out as a supporter, and we love those who continue to support us through campaigns and all of our work – knowing that it’s not about one victory, or one issue.
