A monthly LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) Adoptive Parent Support Group. This group will offer support, information and tools necessary to nurture healthy LGBTQ families. Meetings will vary in content offering themes, special topics and guest presenters.

Topics throughout the year will include:

• Adoption 101

• Legal Issues and LGBTQ adoptive families

• Advice and stories from post adoptive LGBTQ families

• Accessing Local Resources

This group is open to prospective and current LGBTQ adoptive parents: those considering adoption, waiting to adopt, who have recently adopted and those with established and experienced adoptive families. Facilitated by adoption professional, Astrid Dabbeni and experienced adoptive parent, Cliff Leonardi, the group will meet through December 2012, and is drop-in.

The group is possible with the support of Adopt US Kids, a cooperative agreementwith The Children’s Bureau, Administration for Children and Families, and The Department of Health and Human Services and Adoption Mosaic, a Portland-based nonprofit dedicated to providing support to the adoption community.
