I am very happy to see such an active role by a person of your position and authority, as the Mayor of Portland, taking on this issue, and supporting us. Many of our lives, as transgendered or transsexual women and men, have been exceedingly challenging, with a legion of discriminatory treatment, especially in the hands of the health insurance industry, among others. Whether we receive medically necessary treatment for our conditions is the difference between ending up in prison, mental hospitals, getting fired from work, having equal access to any public accomodation, or even just the common respect of one human saying hello from another person, as we walk by, without derision. May we all come together, as one concentrated force and slay this dragon, all for one and one for all. Thank you, so much, Mayor Sam Adams.
