Last week, our Co-Directors wrote an excellent piece for The Advocate about where our work is heading in the next year, how far Oregon has come thanks to Basic Rights Oregon, and where we hope to take Oregon and the nation in LGBTQ advocacy. For much of its history, Oregon has been the epicenter of some downright scary anti-LGBTQ legislation, and Basic Rights Oregon was formed in the early 90s in response to such legislation. Ever since then, and particularly this year, our phones have been ringing off the hook from LGBTQ people all across our state who continue to experience injustice. In spite of this, we’ve made some amazing progress in the last 20 years in Oregon, and we wanted to share that progress with our supporters and our friends across the country.
