Basic Rights Oregon stands in solidarity with everyone impacted by the attack on New Zealand’s Muslim communities during Friday prayers at two local mosques. Today and every day, we work to end a world where people live with the threat of violence, whether in New Zealand or in Oregon. We understand that for many people, whether they are Muslim, LGBTQ, or people of color, threats of violence are a frightening, every day lived experience. From the attacks on young Muslim women on the MAX to the recent threats against the LGBTQ community on Portland streets, we recognize we are all interconnected in our work against white supremacy and hate. We must all work to do better and support each other to build communities that center love and see the humanity in each other. No matter who you are or who you love, we are here for you and we will always keep fighting for you.
